Where It All Began: My Wake-Up Call

Just a few years ago, the scale hit 320 pounds. My daily routine? It often involved multiple large sodas, pizza slices, maybe a couple of hot dogs for lunch – basically, anything and everything, with little thought to my health. It wasn’t sustainable, and deep down, I knew it was dangerous.

The Endless Cycle of Dieting

That realization kicked off a years-long struggle. I tried everything – near-starvation diets, complicated meal plans, obsessive calorie counting. I even committed to walking three miles a day while strictly limiting myself to under 2000 calories. That last push did help me lose 50 pounds right before my brother’s wedding. I felt amazing, impressing even the tuxedo tailor who had to refit me just days before the event! I hadn’t been that size since high school.

But the success was short-lived. Within months, the old habits crept back in, and frustratingly, so did the weight. I was almost back where I started.

A Turning Point: Discovering the Ketogenic Diet

Around that time, I noticed persistent dark circles under my eyes and just generally didn’t feel well. A bit of research suggested these could be signs of insulin resistance – a potential precursor to diabetes. That concerned me. I didn’t want diabetes, and I was exhausted from losing progress.

I started searching for diets specifically aimed at improving insulin sensitivity and promoting effective weight loss. That’s when I stumbled upon the Ketogenic Diet.

Finding What Finally Worked: My Keto Success

For me, Keto felt like magic. The weight started coming off consistently, almost melting away. The best part? I was eating real, manageable foods that actually tasted good. It wasn’t about deprivation; it was about changing what I ate.

Were there setbacks? Of course, adjusting takes time. But after just over a year of sticking with it, I had lost 100 pounds. I know that’s faster than some experts might recommend, but given my starting point, it was the change my body needed, and it worked for me.

Taking It Further: Adding Fasting

More recently, I’ve integrated intermittent fasting and a weekly 36-hour water-only fast into my routine. The weight loss continues at a healthy pace, and honestly, I feel fantastic – more energy, clearer mind, just better.

I built The Keto Table from the ground up as a place to document the keto-friendly recipes I love and share my passion for this way of eating. It’s truly a labor of love, created to help others who might be facing the same struggles I did.
